Kayla and Jerome have their baby! [October 10th 2011]

On October 10th 2011 at 11:20pm we welcomed baby Jake Robert Simons into the world! It was Kayla and Jerome's one year anniversary!! What an amazing gift! The day was the same as every other day, I went to work, came home, and was completely exhausted and Danny was standing duty so he wasn't home. I sat down around 9:00pm and was just thinking to myself  "I should go to bed!" Then, I get a phone call from Beth (Kay's sister-in-law) and she says "Ashley....Kayla's in LABOR!" I JUMPED up and ran around the house frantic not knowing what to do or where to start! I got dressed, no clue if I even matched or not, nor did I care! I ran around turning off lights, forgetting some, then darted out the door only to remember that I forgot my SHOES!!! I ran back in grabbed a pair and ran off thinking to myself "OH MY GOSH WHERE DID I PARK MY CAR!?!?" I sprinted around and found it and took off to Lodi! I think I made it there in record time...yes, I drove really really fast! Wouldn't you??!? Even Jerome looks at me and says "how the hell did you make it here so fast?" :) haha! So I made it just in time! Jen (Jerome's sister) and Shirley (Jerome's mom) were just getting there as well and the nurse showed us to Kayla's room where she was all hooked up and already pretty far along in active labor! Unfortunately, little Jake's heartbeat kept dropping A LOT with every contraction...the Dr and Nurses refused to watch it any longer and took Kay away for a C-Section to be safe. She went in at 11:00pm and by 11:20pm we had a healthy screaming baby boy!!!!! :] Good thing they took him too, his cord was wrapped around his neck! :] Around 2:30am after him being warmed up, bathed, and warmed up again he was finally in Kayla's arms and she didn't want to let him go! Do you blame her?!? He was a precious baby boy, 8lbs 7oz, way lighter than we all thought, with a full head of dark brown hair! Where he got that from? Who knows! But he is absolutely precious!!!! We came back Tuesday and saw him again and we got to hold him and love on him! Danny was a little nervous to hold him at first, I think all the people in the room made him nervous, but once they all left and it was just the four of us...he was alllll about baby Jake!
